Snickers for Christmas Stockings

Snickers tree

After such a wonderfully successful Snickers drive last year, we’ve decided to do it again! From now until November 24th, HELP Adult Services is accepting Snickers candy bars as donations for our Christmas Stockings for the Incarcerated program. The program provides Christmas stockings filled with goodies to 3,000 incarcerated adults and youth residing in 11 southwestern Iowa and eastern Nebraska correctional facilities. For some of the recipients, it’s the only gift they will receive this holiday season.

Here is what a couple satisfied Snickers snackers had to say:

“For 12 years I’ve received the stockings you all made and filled here, and I’m writing to say thanks! All the guys here appreciate and look forward every year to the stockings. It brightens up everyone’s day that you’ve made the filled stockings a tradition for us prisoners.”

“It’s a blessing to know that there are people out there that care about us. Your gift was highly appreciated. A lot of us here are not blessed to have family and friends here to help us during the holidays. God Bless You!”

While you’re making your candy purchases this fall for Trick-or-Treaters or a festive Snickers salad, pick up a few extra Snickers and bring them into HELP Adult Services.

In addition to dropping your Snickers off at HELP Adult Services, many local churches and groups are participating in Snickers Sunday. On Sunday, either October 12th or October 19th, you can donate your Snickers candy bar at any participating church or group. If your church or group does not know about Snickers Sunday, put them in contact with HELP Adult Services, and we can get them in the know.
