We moved!

HELP Adult Services moved to The Center, 42nd & Center, to better meet the needs of the community.  To adequately serve our clientele, HELP Adult Services anticipated a relocation to the high-traffic, human services-rich 42nd street corridor that is located within a stones throw of many of HELP's long-time partners.

HELP's new site has an on-site caregivers "media center" for easy access to information. Also available, computer access to MedlinePlus offering reliable health and medical information. MedlinePlus is a site sponsored by the United States National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health.

HELP Adult Services would like to thank everyone who helped us move and make our Open House a success.

On August 18, we celebrated our opportunity to better serve our community with our Open House. If you were unable to join us for HELP's Open House and you would like to visit another time, please contact us (402-341-6559 x100) and we will arrange an alternate time.

Many of HELP's partners stopped by to receive a tour of HELP's new location,  as well as, Mayor Jim Suttle and U.S. Rep. Lee Terry, R-Neb. HELP Adult Services was also featured in an article by the Omaha World Herald. Click below to view the article.

2011 Caregiver of the Year

HELP Adult Services held its 2nd annual Caregiver of the Year recognition event on November 10th at Fontenelle Forest.

This event honored those caregivers who selflessly work without expecting anything in return; caregivers who generously give of themselves in order to help someone who can't help themselves.

There were so many wonderful nominations, the selection committee couldn't come to a decision on just one Caregiver of the Year. The two Caregiver of the Years were Bobby VanDyke and Mitchell Washington. To read more, please go to the Caregiver of the Year Page.

An Opportunity to Honor Our Founders

On August 1st, HELP Adult Services; a Presbyterian community outreach will have a new home in The Center on 42nd & Center. This move gives us the opportunity to create a Caregiver Media Center within the Conference Room. This room will be multi-fuctional to serve the meeting needs of volunteers and staff, as well as become a valuable resource for Caregiver support.

Our founders had the vision of "An Intentional Future" with the services of Respite, Health & medical Equipment Loan Program, Christmas Stockings and many other services.

To honor the foresight and generosity of our Founders, we indend to dedicate the Caregiver Media Center/Conference room to them. Our goal is to raise $10,000 in their honor.

Please consider contribuiting to this dedication by contacting Emily at 402-341-6559 x100
Honoring our Loved-Ones

Do you have a special person in your life that you would like to honor or serve their memory with a memoriam? As HELP Adult Services prepares to move into their new offices at The Center on 42nd & Center, we are developing opportunities for the community to honor their loved-ones.

The two methods to honor a loved-one are:

        Donor Wall
        Room Dedication

Contact Penny at 402-341-6559 x105 for details and options.

Celebrating 30 Years

“Toward an Intentional Future” was the document created by Dr. Ross Robson (First Presbyterian Church of Omaha) that laid out the future that is HELP Adult Services today. The document was created in May of 1982 and officially began the mission on October 22, 1982.

It soon became apparent that the amount of services being offered required the mission to become a separate 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The new non-profit organization was named Presbyterian Metropolitan Ministries of Omaha Inc. (PMMO). In 1994, the name was changed to Presbyterian Outreach, Inc. (POI) and then in 2008, the name was changed to HELP Adult Services; a Presbyterian community outreach.

As the needs of the community have changed, so have the services offered through the organization.

Throughout the existence of HELP Adult Services, some of the programs have grown to be the strength of the organization, providing needed services to thousands of individuals and families annually. The current programs and projects include:

·          Health & medical Equipment Loan Program (H.E.L.P.)

·          Respite

     -    Companion Services

     -    Caregiver Resource Library

     -    Caregiver Support & Recognition

·          Christmas Stockings for the Incarcerated

What was once a vision, became a mission, and then grew into an organization. It transitioned from being a service provided out of a church boiler room to an organization that partners with hundreds of medical, social, and service organizations. And, is now located at the Center Mall on 42nd & Center, near many of those partner organizations with easy access to the people it serves.
